tracking hard drive accesses

After upgrading to Edgy I notice that my hard drive is getting accessed every few seconds. vmstat indicates it's blocks out every 5 seconds or so which probably means something overzealously logging. In the past I've done annoying stuff like trying to find a file with a recent mtime, but is there really no better way to find this?

O lazyweb, tell me how I can find out which process is making my disk click.
