ubuntu developer summit, cont'd

Today is the day I signed up to babysit at the summit, so I finally asked around and tracked down Ian Jackson as the person to talk to regarding fontconfig issues. Right now it looks likely that we'll (well, he'll) be able to fix that for Dapper.

I don't really follow Ubuntu development, and I unsubscribed from debian-devel long ago. The majority of making the platform work appears to be boring grungework, or just getting the right groups to cooperate. But here are some tidbits I've picked up:
