girl graph

Girls in my life, based on the number of mentions they got in my LiveJournal:

This is not quite what I wanted for a number of reasons:
  • If I recall my stats right, these kernel density estimates integrate to one there’s some property of this method that I don’t really understand that means that the separate lines should not be compared visually as I do here. Meena has more overall mentions than the other two, but her graph is shorter because it’s more spread out. (I don’t know how to use R very well.)
  • I (coincidentally) began my LJ just around the time I broke up with Kim, so she gets fewer mentions... and because she’s more or less stuck around in my life, she gets more spread out and is also shorter than it should be.
  • I mentioned Faith a few times a day because I spent so much time with her; I spend a similar amount of time with Meena but I’ve made a point of not mentioning her (nor Faith or Kim) so much.

But with all of that said, it’s still kinda cool.
