I got some good comments on that last post. And Graydon's comment also got me thinking about TIP. As I wrote there: "My high school was [inter]nationally renowned for its technology program, with visitors from Europe coming to take tours, but it was actually pretty simple. A father decided his daughter's schools needed to be networked, and so provided the expertise but actually had the kids do the work. I was making 10baseT patch cables in middle school and I wired the library -- his daughter, who was a few grades ahead of me, was the one who trained me."

I ought to look up Erin! I wonder what became of her. I wonder if that was her name...
